For this piece I decided to do a soldier. This is definitly the heaviest piece I have done yet. This soldier has lost people that he loved when he was in war. I wanted to capture the true emotion and despair. Behind the man is a graveyard where his fellow soldiers are buried. A man is kneeling in front of one of the stones mourning someones death.I did this piece in charcoal, I felt that color would detract from the feeling of the piece. I think this is one of my best pieces visually and conceptually although I would like to continue working on the right side of the piece.
CC,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great drawing. I really like the emotion playing across the soldier's face. You can tell that he is sad and I think that you worked really hard on this one to show value. I think that just on the right side you should make it a little stronger in some way. Great job overall :)
Good work! I would still continue to develop the background and sense of space so that it is more clear to the viewer. However, your contrast and edges are more clearly defined and you demonstrate a greater understanding of the media in your technical control. Well done!
